Drew Makepeace began learning the djembe in 2002 at a night class and never looked back. Since then, he has amassed a repertoire of West African rhythms and practises and performs them with a 5-person group in Penticton. Drew has made four trips to Guinea in West Africa to study with master drummers and immerse himself in the culture of the djembe. He is currently teaching night classes in djembe and dundun at the Penticton Recreation Centre.
