Stained Glass for Beginners

Stained Glass-where the physics of light and refraction meet the magic of color and composition resulting in visually stunning artwork. This fun and exciting one-day, 5 hr. course is designed to allow students to learn the basic skills and techniques of Tiffany style (copper foil method) stained glass. The class sizes are small to allow plenty of one-on-one time. Students will learn about safety, glass selection, pattern preparation, glass cutting and fitting, copper foiling, soldering, and finishing. There will be six main patterns to choose from as well as a large variety of different coloured and textured glass that will allow students to complete their own unique and beautiful sun catcher to take home. Students wanting to continue learning can follow up with an intermediate course with larger and more complex patterns. Students wanting to continue with their learning can follow up with an intermediate course that will cover larger and more difficult patterns.

Proficiency Level: 

Beginner Workshops are for people not familiar with stained glass crafting. 

The Intermediate Course will be for any students that take the beginner course and are interested in further learning. 

Number Of Students: 

Minimum of 1, maximum of 3

Course Materials: All use of tools, glass, and materials will be provided and are included in the course fees. Students will need to have closed toe shoes (no sandals or flip flops). Safety glasses are mandatory (students can bring their own or I can provide) Bring a bag lunch.

Course Cancellations 

If OKFS must cancel a course, the student will receive a full refund or a credit towards a future course of their choosing. Students who wish a refund of any payments made for that course should contact the OKFS office at info@okfolkschool.ca. Students who cancel their enrollment more than 7 days prior to the first day of the course and request a refund will receive a refund less a 4% cancellation fee to cover the credit card costs. In recognition of the time and energy instructors invest in preparing for courses, students who cancel their enrollment 6 days or less prior to the first day of the course are not eligible for a refund. Students who do not show up to a course and have not notified OKFS are not eligible for a refund.
