About the event

Instructor:   Rebecca Garland

Stories are how people have always passed on what matters. They've moved from fireside to kitchen table to boardroom. In this relaxed, hands-on series, you'll discover why stories move us, how they're built, and how to shape one of your own. By the end, you'll leave with a personal story that's drafted, structured, and ready to share.

Each session stands on its own, so you can join all three or drop into the ones that interest you most.  Taken together, they build from understanding stories to telling your own

Workshop Description:    Part 2 - The Structure of Stories

Every memorable story has bones. In this session, you'll explore the common shapes stories take, the different purposes they serve, and a simple six-part skeleton you can use to build almost any story. We'll also look at the art of the opening line: how to catch a listener's attention from the first sentence.

You'll draft a story using a defined skeleton, and get friendly, constructive feedback in small groups.
