About the event

Learn to play a traditional West African rhythm on the djembe (a goblet-shaped hand drum). This introductory workshop is aimed at complete beginners. It will teach you how to play the three basic sounds, develop a sense of rhythm, and play an authentic West African rhythm in a group setting. This class is suitable for complete beginners ages 12 and up (including adults!)

Skill Requirements:

No musical background is necessary. Students using loaner drums must remove rings from their fingers before playing.

Minimum 5; maximum of 12
